The story behind "Grandfather".

The children and grandchildren of Gerald Hourigan called his mother "Grandfather". I was told that it was because my father, John, would call both of his grandparents "grandfather" when he was young.

This picture was taken on 5/10/1981 (Mother's day) with her birthday cake.

She was 85 years old in this picture.

Picture of John Francis Hourigan with "Major" and "Molly" on cultivator.  ( Date unknown ).

William Hourigan's house and farm are in background.   This picture was taken on what is now Hourigan road in the town of Onondaga (NY), north of Navarino. The date is unknown. However, the barn that used to be on the corner of Hourigan and Stevens road is not in the picture so this has to be early 1900s and no later than 1918. John Francis Hourigan is Gerarld Hourigan's father.
